Welcome to the kink meme for Critical Role!
This community is open to all fans of Critical Role no matter what your preference for pairing may be. You do not have to join the community: you can either watch it or just track the post. Anon commenting will always be on, and IP tracking will be off. So feel free to stay anon if it makes you more comfortable.
What is a Kink Meme?
It's pretty simple. You post a prompt and your fellow fans get inspired and write fic based on that prompt. As it is a "kink" meme, a great deal of fic will be of the smutty variety, so if you aren't into that or not of a porn-reading age, this place won't be for you. Not all fic has to be smutty, but it does have to be kinky.
Clarification: This is a kink meme, therefore prompts must be kink-based. It is not a general prompting/headcanons meme. There have been a couple of people confused by that, so we're just making it extra clear.
Please only post one prompt per comment so to avoid any confusion.
How do I prompt?
Post each prompt as a new comment to the main post. Include pairing (or threesome or more if that's your thing) and anything else you want to add. You should put, at the very least, the pairing in the subject line along with a specific kink if it applies. You can put the whole prompt in the subject if it will fit, but if it doesn't, use the comments. For example:
Subject line: Char1/Char2, flogging
Body of comment: Char1 has a thing for Char2's strong hands. Having seen them wield a weapon, they're wondering how well Char2 can swing their favorite bedroom toy.
I see a prompt I want to write! What now?
Go for it! You don't have to claim it, and fills can be written by more than one person. Once you've finished you must post it as a response to the original comment. Responses should use a subject line that includes the pairing, rating & any necessary warnings (i.e. incest, non-con, etc.). If you have titled your fic you can also include that. Also, as LJ limits the size of comments, if your fic goes into multiple comments, please note that your comment is part 1/5, part 2/5 and so on. Using the prompt above, the subject line could read:
"[something punny about floggers], Char1/Char2, M, 1/3"
And now some rules...
While we want this to be a relaxed and cool place, we also don't want people to feel uncomfortable being here. If you have suggestions or comments on how this community can improve please address to them tocriticalkink in a PM or drop a comment on this post.

- Since we're all supposed to be adults here, let's act like it. Be respectful to your fellow posters.
- Your kink is not someone else's and their kink may not be yours. If you don't like it, don't read it. It's really that simple.
- Please no bashing of other pairings. Just like with kinks, everyone has their own flavors, and this is neither the time nor place for ship wars. This meme is meant to include the entire fandom.
- Crossover prompts are allowed, but they must include a Critical Role character as a main part of the prompt.

Orym is maybe more than a little bit drunk, sitting in the bar, watching the others get up to - he’s not really sure what - while sitting next to Ashton. Mostly he’s staring at Ashton, which, definitely combined with the alcohol, is what gets him to ask: “Hey. I don’t know if this is rude but - your gender. What the fuck is up with that.”
"Oh, yeah.” Ashton shrugs, leaning back in their chair. “I have no fucking idea.”.
“You…don’t know?” Orym repeats. He doesn’t really know what answer he was expecting but that…wasn’t it. “How did you decide what pronouns to use, then.”
"Presentation, that I put some fucking work into. Well, not work, exactly, but I figured out the vibe I wanted pretty early on, and that's basically still what I'm going with. But pronouns aren't a gender - I'm not touching that shit with a ten foot pole."
“I guess it just seems so - important. The sort of thing you have to know.”
“I mean, kind of? But it also really doesn’t matter to anyone else. You know what the fuck to call me, that’s all you really need.”
That…isn’t what he needed to hear. Why couldn’t this just be easy?
"Look, I'm not really the person to ask about this," Ashton says. "You'd be better off with Letters or-" they stop, and look him over, before sighing. "Okay, fuck, what's a good metaphor? Uh,, take a color, fucking, green or whatever. I'm green, and you're - you're green, but it isn't the same green. And there's a boatload of fucking greens, and they're all different, like, more yellow or more blue, or light or dark or bright or whatever you call it when it's all greyed out-"
"Desaturated," Orym fills in. "And they're all still green."
“Yeah, but are they though? The line’s kind of bullshit. And you cut it differently based on what language you speak and where you grew up and the light and time of day and what other shit’s around and all that fuckery. Green works, most of the time, and yeah there’s some other words you can add on when it doesn’t, and if you want to get real fancy you can name the shades, but even those are kind of fucky borders, and honestly it doesn’t matter, because who has the time to sit and talk about paint mixing when you have shit to do.”
“Then, if I’m understanding the metaphor correctly,” Orym says, “the way that you’d describe yourself is…teal? Where it could be green or blue, depending”
“Oh, no, my shit’s way more complicated than that, which is why I haven’t bothered actually figuring it out. I’m cool with being considered a guy, as long as you know it’s in a way that’s weird and more than a little bit fake.”
And despite being definitely a better explanation, Orym still doesn’t feel like that’s helped anything at all.
“Sexuality’s just as fake,” Ashton continues. “It’s a shorthand. Just because you’re into dudes doesn’t mean you’re into every dude - you get to choose where the line gets drawn, and who gives a fuck if it’s the same as where someone else draws the line, its your fucking line. Shorthands are great to get a point across, but they don’t have to be everything, and it’s going to get weird when you’re at the edges. You get to choose. I’ve had plenty of people exclusively into men be into me - and a handful exclusively into women. You wouldn’t be the first.”
“That’s not-” it’s definitely the alcohol that is making him blush here. “How did you guess that’s what I was trying to figure out?”
“Orym, I’m making people question their sexualities all the fucking time. Have you seen me? I look fucking awesome, I’m hot as fuck.” They smile. “Besides, if you were just trying to figure out your own gender shit, you’d have gone and asked Letters. They’re way better at talking through this.”
“I don’t know, you did a pretty good job.”
“Low bar but I fucking appreciate it. So, no need to have an identity crisis over me unless you want one, which, I get, can be nice. And if you want to fuck let me know, we’ll talk about it.”
“Oh- I didn’t- not that I-“
“Orym, calm the fuck down. I’ve no problem being eye candy or whatever, just wanted you to know it’s an option.” They shrug. “I’m easy; you want something from me all you need to do is ask.”
Orym snorts. “Bold words from someone who refuses to answer any questions.”
“Hey, I never said I’d fucking do it, just that I don’t need the pretense. Ask all the questions you want. I’m sure some of them I’ll answer.
