Omg what a blessing was literally just considering asking for a post like this. Because honestly I feel like just talking about characters and kinks in a casual way but can't exactly just post "hey who wants to talk about Vax and watersports" on my public twitter lol

How to transition into writing RPF?

Finally I have somewhere safe to ask these questions, thank you for this post !!
So: I've been writing character fic for a while but there's just something about CR that makes me want to try slowly easing into RPF. I'm just so in love with the idea of the cast being of the type of friends that casually get with each other (or maybe I just want to create a scenario where Matt gets a break for once).
Anyway for you seasoned RPF'ers out there: how did you go about the transition from character fiction to RPF?

Honestly just keep writting it like you are writting characters because in a way you are. None of us actually know the cast, we just know our perception of them, their persona if you will. Even if how they present themselves is 100% authentic we still do not actually know them on a personal level so their persona still is on some level a fictional character kind of.
Also AUs are great. Aus are basically the kiddy pool of the RPF fandoms cause it adds that extra obviouse layer of space between you and the actual real person.

Okay so. This has been on my mind after spending a Lot of time on the kinkmeme
We all kind of silently agree that Taliesin would be the kinkiest of the lot and I get it? But I don't get why I get it?
Is it some kind of aura of kink that we all pick up on with our definitely hellbound hivemind or just?

Over the years he has made occasional jokes or asides about things like spanking and crawling as therapy - those are just the first two that popped into my mind.

Also, just my opinion, but he embraces counterculture via the "goth dad" persona and that may contribute to the fan perception of him being more open to things like kink, whether that is a fair conclusion to draw or not. He also seems less easily offended or made uncomfortable about sex talk in comparison to some other people in the cast.

Everyone makes a metric ton of jokes about Brian Foster having been arrested/in jail/parole/etc but why? Did he legit get arrested once or something?

To fellow writers, what are some patterns or characterisations that you just can't break free of?
The world of CR RPF has bitten my ass hard, and I find that some things - like submissive Matt (seriously, even his name screams sub) - have just wormed their way into my writing and seem so natural that I often don't question them until I see a prompt that suggests otherwise.
Have any of you noticed anything similar? If you have, do you think it restricts your writing or helps it settle? Do you have any ways to encourage/discourage patterns?

having certain preferred characterizations isn't bad, I think...it helps writing go more smoothly when you're not having to try to steer the voice in your head in a direction it doesn't want to go

I'm feeling curious, so let's have a chat: do you read/write mostly RPF, mostly character fiction, or an even mix of the two? what is it about this category you find the most appealing? what's your preferred/main pairing?

I read both RPF and character fiction, but so far I've only written RPF in this fandom. For me, it's because I got into CR just a few months ago and so I'm not fully caught up on all the canon yet, which makes RPF easier to write for me right now. But I really love reading both kinds of fic.

Hm. For RPF, I love just about any combination of those wordy nerds. Orgy fic for the win! :)

Yeah you're right ... I feel like it's come up several times in CR2. Lots of enemies wetting themselves out of fear.

Liam does seem to bring it up a lot. He brings up sensory stuff a lot now that I think on it, he was always emphasizing the smell of the Raven Queen armor.

I don't have a tumblr so I don't have anywhere else to squee about this, but I'm really glad the Caleb/Jester rarepair seems to be picking up in the last couple of weeks. Although, their dynamic seems more conducive to fluff than smut at the moment. (Change my mind. >:3 )

To be honest, I think here and AO3 will probably be the majority. As someone who seems to only ship rare pairs, for my tastes that's generally where I find smit anyway.

I just wonder where all the filthy fanart is headed...

Anyone else here into orientation play as a kink? Someone who's not into a particular gender being requested to do things with someone of that gender by their Dom/me, for example, or even deciding to experiment on their own out of curiosity.

Pardon the practical question, but it seems like there must be some secret konami code to making it easier to see 'new' content on here that I have yet to discover.

How is one supposed to know when any of the posts that have 8 or 11 pages of content gets a reply, or a fill?

I know this can come off demanding or whiny, but I've felt discouraged writing for the Kinkmeme lately.

The tumbler thing is odd, however you do need to message them with something so they can invite you -- create an alt e-mail address on service of your choice and use that to create a new discord handle, if privacy is a concern.

I really don't know if this is the right thread for this, but I am going insane looking for a fill and I figured I would ask to see if anyone knows where it is. I could have sworn it was somewhere on the kinkmeme, but I have looked in each RPF thread have not seen it.

The fill I am trying to find is Liam/Matt/Marisha/Talisen where Liam gets a phone call that the other three are being "held captive" and the "Captor" wants him to come over to keep the others safe. It's really a consensual-nonconsent roleplay in which everyone but Liam takes a turn being the "Captor". If I remember correctly it was Marisha first, but I don't remember the order for Matt & Talisen. If anyone knows where to find this I would appreciate directions, because I am completely lost.

Fill Thread idea?

I will freely admit that I am more of a lurker on this thread than anything else, I was part of the discord for a time but left it because I felt that I didn't have anything to contribute to it. However with campaign 2 having ended, Exandria Unlimited around the corner, and Campaign 3 beyond that (each with the potential for new threads) I thought I may as well propose the idea of a Fill thread in order to consolidate just incase people are running out of space in their Notification Tracking. I would like to propose a thread where an Anon can link their fic in a central location, either when it has been started or when it has been completed.

Other Kink memes I have been part of in the past have had differing methods for a Fill Thread. Some have had Anons provide a link only when the fic is completed, others have had Anons provide a link both when the prompt is first filled and when the prompt has been completed, others still have asked for a link provided for every chapter until the fill is completed. Personally, I like the second method best but I see the benefits of all three.

I think this has the potential to make it easier to find stories in what I think is about to become a much larger group of threads. Using one of my favorite stories on this Kink Meme "See Me At My Worst", I have provided an example of how I think this could work on the premise of the third idea (links for every chapter until completed (unless posting multiple parts at once))
