It was Laura's fault, at first, with her myriad superstitions. He had kissed her, jokingly, before the show, a quick press of lips. She had gone on to roll incredibly well that night, and swore up and down it was his doing.
A few weeks later, before a battle they knew was coming and were all dreading, they'd gone out to dinner together, and Laura had insisted Travis repeat the ritual.
"I'm not gonna kiss him," Travis had protested, with fond exasperation.
"But he'll make you roll good!"
"That's not- "
"Travis Willingham, you kiss Liam right now or - "
"What's the matter, big man?" Liam had grinned, both in fondness for Laura and genuine mirth at Travis' reluctance. "Scared?"
That had gotten both him and Laura a sour look, and with a sigh he'd leaned over and pressed his lips, quickly and roughly, against Liam's.
"There, happy now?"
"Yes," Laura had said primly, returning to her meal.
--
Then Marisha had caught wind of it, and wrapped her arms around his neck in the break room, giving him a lingering kiss that made Matt's eyebrows lift a little, but garnered no other reaction.
"Just getting in character," she giggled.
Taliesin had followed suit, with a shrug and a muttered "when in Rome" as explanation. "Though I'm pretty sure we just canceled each other out."
"You better not have," Laura called from across the room. "I'm counting on him."
--
"Why don't I get a kiss?" Sam protested once, grinning.
"Maybe you should show up on time," Liam shot back, with a matching grin. "Besides, I kiss you all the time."
"This is true."
--
This became the norm before every game. They'd all rolled well and poorly in equal measures, just as they always had, even after their little preshow ritual had started, and Liam was starting to think it didn't have anything to do with the dice at all. Not that he particularly minded.
His theory was all but proven when Matt caught him by the wrist before a live show, pulling him in for a quick kiss, followed by a soft smile.
"But I don't want you to roll well," Liam protested, making Matt's smile widen.
"Who said I needed luck?" And he sauntered on stage, leaving Liam shaking his head with a smile of his own in the near-dark.
For Luck (Liam/Everyone, G/PG?)
