I'd love to see a reversal on the expected trope here:
Caleb puts a concentrated effort into coming across as meek and powerless, but his true nature is that of a calculating, sharp-minded alpha with a more characteristic caring/protective heart than he'd like to believe. Fjord has a level head and makes a good leader, but as more of his anxieties start to pile up he becomes more timid about his role in the group - it's as if giving orders or being given control tires him out in a way that feels almost unnatural for someone who isn't an omega...
Whatever the circumstances, the two of them figure the other out almost right away, but keep it to themselves out of respect for each other and for the cohesion of the group. Eventually the UST reaches a head, so they get some alone time to let themselves... indulge in their instincts. ;)
