Holy fuck this is exactly the right combination of hot and horrifying. I absolutely love this. This slow, visceral breaking-apart of Essek, and the way that he's painfully aware of every step of it, Lucien goading him with Caleb nearby, the alien-animal feel of the city taking him--all of it is so good, geez.
