I suspect that the ensuing story would be… a lot more “fuck these guys” than “c’mon can’t we all just get along?” On the plus side they might do a good job of actually uprooting the whole Cerberus Assembly. On the downside, I doubt they would ever really become friends with Essek - especially not after his big reveal - and I don’t know how trying to end the war would actually play out.
