Bren, newly escaped from the asylum, has to find ways to survive. Lucien finds him on the streets and takes him back to the Tomb Takers' hideout to have all for himself. Bren barely sees Lucien's face in the dark, but remembers the touch of his hands and the sound of his voice in his ear.
Weeks or maybe months later, when Lucien's ritual goes wrong, the Tomb Takers flee Shady Creek Run and Bren gets left behind, weak and barely able to fend for himself.
Years later, Caleb and Molly find each other. Neither recognise each other at first, but Molly pinning Caleb to the wall in the sewers triggers something in Caleb. They find themselves drawn to each other and it peaks one fateful night. Their minds might not remember, but something in their bodies and their subconscious does. An aggression takes over Molly that he later hates himself for, and Caleb slips back into the same headspace that Bren did during his time with Lucien.
